Gulu Hawks subdue KIU in FUBA league

THE Gulu Hawks defeated KIU 65-53 at YMCA on Sunday — the biggest upset in the 2008 MTN-FUBA men’s top division league yet. Going into the contest, KIU were on top of the table with five wins in seven while their counterparts lay third from bottom with two victories in five outings. Not anymore.

Moses Ochen netted a game-high 20 points as the Hawks broke away in the second half, which started with both teams tied at 30.

They outscored KIU 17-13 in the final quarter to secure the remarkable win which helped the Mogas Falcons become the new table leaders.

The reigning champions guaranteed top spot with a hard-fought victory over the Nkumba Marines.
