AMID reports that HIV incidence is highest among married couples, Ugandans have found a way round watchful spouses. Many step out for one-hour sexual escapades at lunch time, a Saturday Vision survey has established.

Out of 30 lodges surveyed in all divisions of Kampala, about a fifth indicated that lunchtime was their busiest hour, and most guests were paired. On average, men went to the lodges with girls 10 years younger.

Information minister Nsaba Buturo describes it as a shameful and regrettable development.

Dr. Ellioda Tumwesigye, chairperson of the parliamentary committee on HIV/AIDS, is not surprised, and calls for intensive anti-HIV campaigns targeting married people.
