TWO soccer punters have won themselves all-expenses paid trips to watch the Euro 2008 semi-finals and finals in Austria and Switzerland.

Dennis Kakande, a trader in Bweyogerere and Hassan Mukomba, a third year Information Technology student at Makerere University, are the two lucky punters who will travel after being picked from a betting draw courtesy of Sports Betting Africa.

They were drawn from hundreds of entries of people who have been betting and registering their tickets following the promotion that started four months ago.

SBA’s CEO Simon Mpanga and operations manager Fabrice De Fouchier picked the two from two lots of 20 names each who made it to the final draws.

Kakande, who claimed to be herbalist, when asked whether he had a passport wondered how he could have one when he had never dreamt of flying.

‘‘I won’t sleep tonight,” an excited Mukomba, who claimed to have dreamt of talking to Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo and having a nightmarish time the previous night, said.

Mpanga announced that two more fans will travel to the Emirates and Stamford Bridge, homes of Arsenal and Chelsea, from another draw that will be conducted in the coming season.

‘‘With the timely payments we make and such offers we have brought back the trust in the betting and gaming industry,” Mpanga, who promised to help the two acquire passports, affirmed.

SBA, a leading betting company, has sunk $8,000(sh13.2m) into the trip to the European championship finals with each ticket costing $1,500 (sh2.4m). “We are even going to pay for their passports,” Mpanga said.
