An American sports investor Richard Stanley has embarked on a plan to develop Ugandan Baseball and Softball to international standards.
Stanley’s plan started with setting up of an academy at Nakirebe, 20km on Kampala-Masaka road. He has been studying the prospect of developing the sport since 2001. Work on the academy started in February.

St Michael win basketball title
St. Micheal took the boys title while Nabisunsa triumphed in the girls events at the St. Micheal basketball tournament held at Lugazi over the weekend. St. Micheal defeated Saku High 26 - 22 in the boys final while Nabisunsa's A team overcame theit compatriots in team B in the girls final to win the title for the third year running. The tournament attracted 18 teams.

Kibanda in Biribonwa final
Bunyoro’s Biribonwa soccer cup final between Kibanda and Buruli counties next week will double up as a celebration for King Solomon Iguru’s birthday.The final of the fifth edition of the annual competition at Kiryandongo ground will coincide with the King’s birthday. Iguru will preside over the final as chief guest, tournament organisers confirmed the programme yesterday.
