RUKUNGIRI-Civil servants in the district found driving government vehicles beyond official working hours will be fined for flouting the public service regulations. The chief administrative officer, Muhenda Rujumba, last week said culprits would pay sh50,000 every time they were got breaking the law.

Diocese gets sh240m
KASESE-Meseor Or, a German agency, has donated sh240m to the Kasese Catholic Diocese for its women and gender sector activities. The money will be used to implement the women initiative support programme. “Although this programme is women-focused, it will benefit even men,” Susan Kabugho, an official said on Tuesday.

Teachers want MP
MBARARA-The local branch of the Uganda National Teacher’s Union has proposed that teachers get a special slot in Parliament. At a meeting over the weekend, the teachers said they needed an MP to front their issues. Branch vice-chairman James Tweheyo said the Workers’ MPs had ignored teachers.
