FOR three years, Angella Katatumba has not released an album. She has been working on a 10-track album entitled Am Glad am Alive. The album, which is a follow-up to her debut recording, Peace, was released by First Love Records recently.

But given the fact that most Ugandan artistes release albums yearly, why has it taken Angella three years to release her second album? “Good things take time. I always want to create quality and legendary music,” she says.
Angella describes the album as “a message to you and me.”

The title track, Am Glad Am Alive, reveals how she is full of life and can do anything, including climbing a mountain as high as the Rwenzori. The song is a potential club banger despite the inspirational message it carries.

Hip-hop outfit, Klear Kut, features in one of the songs on the album, Feel Alright. It is a great dance jam that urges the deejay to get the party started.

Angella also manages to slow down the song with her vocals and emotions. Forgiveness, a spine-tingling song, recollects the 1994 Rwanda genocide.
Other tracks on the album are A Better Place, Thank You, Pledge and Without You.

But all told, the fact that Am Glad Am Alive is low-key and done entirely in English means she is less likely to become a big local star that she deserves to be.

But for those in the know, this is a fine return of a very talented singer!
