<b>Finance chief faces axe</b><br>KAMULI-The Inspector General of Government (IGG), Justice Faith Mwondha, has ordered the district service commission to cancel the appointment of the district chief financial officer.

KAMULI-The Inspector General of Government (IGG), Justice Faith Mwondha, has ordered the district service commission to cancel the appointment of the district chief financial officer. Mwondha said Patrice Mulamba was appointed irregularly, since he was not a professional accountant. “Mulamba’s academic certificates do not constitute full professional qualification in accountancy. He appeared as a sole candidate before the district service commission,” Mwondha wrote on June 4.


Sh300m for roads
KAMULI-The town council is to spend sh306m of next year’s total revenue of sh855m on works and technical services. According to the budget approved by councillors on Friday, at least sh188m will be directed to infrastructure development and physical planning. Finance secretary Joseph Kabanda said resealing Adams Road would cost sh117m, while external finishes on the main office block would take sh19m.


Amuria gets water aid
AMURIA-Water Aid, an international charity, has given the district sh400m for clean water distribution. The eight-month project to be executed under the north towns and sanitation project is also funded by the water ministry. The works will include construction of elevated steel tanks, laying distribution and intensification pipes, making service connections and constructing a water office, said the district chairman, Julius Onen.

Okurut hospitalised
KAMPALA-Former transport minister Stanislaus Okurut has been admitted at Mulago Hospital with a blood clot in his left leg. Okurut, husband to Bushenyi Woman MP Mary Karooro, has been in ward 1C for a week. A family source said he was unable to walk.
