Plantek Consultants, the company that drew the plan for Toro Kingdom headquarters, is auctioning the premises over a sh65m debt.

The headquarters, located at Mucwa in Fort Portal, were put on sale last week. In 2001, the kingdom also contracted Eng. Enock Kibaamu of Plantek to draw the plan of the palace of Omukama Oyo Nyimba, which was in a poor state.

The multi-million palace was later renovated with the assistance of the Libyan President, Col. Muammar Gadaffi.

However, the architects claim they were not paid.

But the kingdom prime minister, William Nyakatura, dismissed the allegations, adding that they would seek a court injunction to stop the sale.

“The kingdom administration paid them and the kingdom headquarters will not be auctioned. Our lawyers have been consulted and a court injunction will soon be sought,” Nyakatura told Kabarole district council meeting on Thursday.

The district rents part of the kingdom headquarters and pays sh2m per month.

According to documents obtained by The New Vision, the kingdom paid Plantek $10,000 (about sh16m) on April 16, 2002 and another sh15m on October 1, 2003.
