UGANDA telecom (utl) on Wednesday launched a multi-million euro internet service based on the 3G technology.

UGANDA telecom (utl) on Wednesday launched a multi-million euro internet service based on the 3G technology.

The 3G modem will cost sh320,000, while the monthly flat fee will be sh220,000.

Farouk Kiwala, the business solution manager, said the service was the first in East Africa.

He said uganda telecom will enhance its service offerings with fast mobile broadband data services, allowing more Ugandans to access the internet on the move.

“This service will enable uganda telecom to better meet the needs of existing and new customers who may want to access these novella services,” Kiwala explained.

“The uganda telecom 3G mobile broadband is convenient to use in that it is a highly mobile facility. The 3G mobile broadband modem is plug-and-play, therefore easy to use as it requires no installation.”

Mark Kaheru, the public relations manager, said: “Our 3G broadband will provide more convenient internet access to people throughout the country.”

“Customers will enjoy unlimited internet access at any time, any place for an affordable monthly flat fee.”
