THE Police in Masaka are holding two men who allegedly hired a motorcycle for self-ride from Kampala and hid it in Masaka district.

Southern regional Police commander Andrew Sorowen on Tuesday paraded the two men, Ibrahim Sembuusi a resident of Kijjabwemi in Masaka municipality and Siraje Tamale alias Barugahare of Nsambya in Kampala.

He said the third suspect, only identified as Baker, was on the run.

According to the Police, Tamale hired the motorcycle from Robert Osile of Muwuliza stage in Nsambya.

“He hired the motorcycle on Saturday and disappeared until Monday, when he was found in his house in Kampala relaxing,” Sorowen said.

On interrogation, Tamale revealed that his friend, Sembuusi, was hiding the motorcycle in Masaka, Sorowen explained.

Sembuusi was arrested and led the Police to an abandoned house on Bukakkata Road where the motorcycle was recovered.

Sorowen said the suspects would be charged with theft.

He warned bodaboda cyclists against trusting people with their bikes.
“Don’t rent out your bikes even though they are giving you a lot of money because you might lose them.”

He said thugs were stealing motorcycles from Kampala and selling them in Masaka and vice-versa.
