IT was sweet revenge as Mariam Nakamanya and new partner Yelena Juma lifted the Club National Open beach volleyball championships on Sunday.

The women’s top seed returned with a vengeance after she was humiliated in the second outing of the national circuit in April.

She got her revenge against the patnership of Sophie Nanyonga and Shilla Omuriwe in the quarterfinals, before shrugging off the Vivian Aketch and Viola Akisa pair in the final game.

Nakamanya stretched her lead in the women’s rankings to 420 points, ahead of Nanyonga (370).
Thirty-six teams competed. Nile Breweries Area Sales Manager Hilary Mawerere awarded prizes.
