Firm to woo corporates to life insurance cover

LIFE insurance specialists, Liberty Life Assurance, has introduced new services targeting corporate employees.

The new pack, which includes life assurance (death benefits), funeral policies, disability and dread disease covers, will be unveiled to the Uganda’s top corporate sector executives on Thursday at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

Joe Almeida, the general manager, boasted in a statement that his firm controlled the biggest share of the local life assurance market.

“When we established a presence in Uganda, we promised that we would invest in new systems to ensure direct access to the resources and expertise of our controlling shareholder,” Almeida said.

“We promised a much-strengthened suite of insurance and employee benefit products that would address some of the biggest challenges facing Ugandan business; that is enhanced productivity through greater commitment by loyal and motivated workers.”

Last year, the Johannesburg-based wealth management company, Liberty Group, bought a 51% stake in the Kampala firm, pledging a new level of service excellence backed by sophisticated back-office systems.

“By unpacking this suite of products and explaining the contribution of our pan-African parent, we will give a VIP executive audience a glimpse into a high performance future for both employers and employees,” the statement explained.

He added: “We have a strong position in the life and credit-life markets, but will not be resting on our laurels. We are committed to continued market growth.”

The firm will showcase its progress. Since the arrival of Liberty Group. The managing and financial directors and human resources executives of some of the local leading companies have been invited.
