Test for HIV, couples told
FORT PORTAL-Married couples should test for HIV, the Fort Portal Municipality MP, Steven Kaliba, has said. Latest research, he said, indicated that the disease was highest among the married, adding that if couples knew their status, it would help them plan for their families. “Couples should know their HIV/AIDS status. Even those who look good may think they are normal yet they are not.” Kaliba was on Saturday awarding certificates to HIV/AIDS volunteers at Gardens Restaurant. The volunteers were trained by the Joint Clinical Research Centre Fort Portal branch. They are to help the rural communities access anti-retro viral treatment.

2 boys die in hotel
RUKUNGIRI-Residents of Karegyesa Road were on Saturday thrown in a shock when they found bodies of two boys in a hotel. Ivan Tumwebaze’s body was discovered in Mugandas’ Hotel, alongside that of another unidentified boy. The Police suspect they could have died of suffocation. “We are investigating the matter but it is likely to be suffocation because they were in a small lock-up cooking on three charcoal stoves. There could have been a shortage of oxygen,” said the district Police commander, Godence Ovuru. He said the boys, who were cooks in the hotel, usually woke up at around 4:00am to light the three charcoal stoves, set the food and thereafter resume sleep.
