DEFENDING champions G4S Pirates will be out to stop the utl Kobs from completing a league and cup double, when the two sides meet in the finals of the Uganda cup on Saturday.

Victories for 2008 Super Eight league champions the Kobs over the MTN Heathens and Pirates over Hima Impis in the semifinals, ensured there would be a repeat of last year's final, which the Pirates won to put off the humiliation of Kobs' total domination.

Now as then, the Kobs are in the hunt of that demeaning double and must similarly go through the Pirates to get it.

But the league runner-ups made their own intentions clear with a 47 - 0 hiding of the Impis in last week's semi's, although the result was never in serious doubt.

On the other hand, the Kobs had no less a challenge than the Heathens to negotiate and their 20-16 victory can accordingly be considered the more impressive result. Moreover they had to overcome a six-point halftime deficit after three Robert Seguya penalties and his conversion of Mohammed Athio's try, put the Heathens 16-10 ahead.

The Kobs, who in the first half had scored through a Joel Anguyo penalty and his conversion of Sam Lubanga’s try, schemed their way back to victory through John Ssemakula's second half try, converted by Anguyo. Anguyo put the icing on his team's victory when he scored from another penalty minutes to the end, leaving the Kobs faithful celebrating.

It's not easy to predict who will clinch the final but one thing is certain; the Heathens have gone a third successive year without winning any major 15 aside competition.
