ABRAHAM Chepkirwok continued with his Beijing Olympic Games build up by finishing second in the Athens Grand Prix race on Sunday evening.
The 19-year old athlete failed to beat Cuban Yeimer Lopez in a sprint finish that climaxed the slow race where the top six runners were separated by only one second.
Yeimer Lopez, who is second on the world list after his time of 1:43.07 on June 24, was not going to let anybody take his day.
The race winner proved himself with a brilliant sprint finish to win in 1:44.07.
Chepkirwok followed 0.19 seconds behind while Bahrain’s Yusuf Saad Kamel was third at 1:44.40.

* Phillips Idowu recorded the longest triple jump of 2008 at the British Olympic trials on Sunday to underline his gold medal chances in Beijing.
The 29-year-old, who will be competing at his third Olympics next month having failed to win a medal in Sydney and Athens, managed 17.58 metres.
