HEARTS officials have suddenly gone quiet on a compensation package worth £120,000 (sh396m) for former Cranes coach Laszlo Csaba.

Ugandan soccer officials were yesterday left puzzled after reports emerged from Edinburgh that Csaba had actually told his new Scottish club that he had quit because FUFA had breached his contract.

A source said yesterday that FUFA had learnt that Hearts had changed their minds over the compensation deal after Csaba told them the federation had reneged on their deal

The Hungarian reportedly informed Hearts officials that he was not paid for two months.

FUFA publicist Rogers Mulindwa said yesterday that officials they talked to before Csaba left have vanished.

“Now there is no proper communication. They (Hearts) are quiet,” Mulindwa lamented.

“We have made phone calls but seem not to talk to the right people,” Mulindwa said.

The FUFA official then issued a warning that they would appeal to the world soccer governing body, FIFA. “We will next petition FIFA. He (Csaba) will lose his job and remain between Hearts and the Cranes if he is not careful.”

Last week, the Hungarain coach signed a three-year deal with Hearts. Csaba, recruited by FUFA in 2006, still had two years left on his contract.

FUFA allowed him to talk to Hearts expecting his new employers to buy out his contract for a fee of sh396m.

FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa said he expected Hearts to pay them compensation for signing Csaba but

was getting disappointed by the latest developments. He revealed that his executive would be briefed by lawyers today.

Meantime, the executive meets today to vet Serbs Micho Sredejovic and Tomislav Sivic in a bid to get Csaba’s replacement.

* Former KCC defender Hassan Wasswa has started trials with South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants Cape Town Ajax, reports Phillip Corry.

“Wasswa is in Cape Town undergoing trials with Ajax and he is hoping to secure himself a deal,” his agent Mujib Kasule said.

“He has been with Ajax for a week and I am monitoring his trials and I believe he will get a deal for himself.”

Wasswa is currently attached to AK FC in South Africa’s first division league.

Wasswa, son of former KCC great Hassan Biruma, was a key player for the Kampala side two years ago before he moved to Ethiopian soccer giants St. George. The Cranes star then switched to South Africa side Benoni United (now Thandu Zulu) before moving to AK FC.
