THE finance ministry wants a consultant to assess its data and disaster recovery centres.

The project, which is funded by the Government and development partners, will assess the centre, which is under the Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS).

The system is part of the Financial Management and Accountability Programme (FINMAP), which was designed to improve public expenditure management, governance and maximise poverty eradication efforts.

According to the finance ministry’s website, www.finance.go.ug, bidders can get more information from the FINMAP coordination office and inspect the documents at the ministry’s headquarters.

A pre-bid meeting will be held on August 8 at 10:00am in the accountant general’s library at the finance ministry head office.

Bid documents cost $60 (about sh100,000). If carried by courier, the charge is $30 (sh48,900).

The deadline for delivery of the proposals is August 22 at 3:00pm to the programme coordinator on the third floor of the ministry building. Bid opening will be at 3:15pm.

Companies or individuals who were involved in the supply, installation and setting up of the data and disaster recovery centres are not eligible for participation.

The FINMAP was a successor to the Second Economic and Financial Management Programme. The programme aimed at deepening and consolidating reforms in public financial management.

A large component of FINMAP will focus on the extension of the public financial management systems to more government agencies and local governments.

Today, the financial management system is being implemented in at least eight districts and five city divisions.

The Government has completed a public financial management system study, which is expected to come up with a new strategy for implementation of the system.
