We don’t know whether this is in recognition of her spirited contribution to the battle against degazetting Mabira Forest for sugarcane growing, but Kitgum Woman MP Beatrice Atim Anywar also the shadow minister for environment, recently joined the likes of Prince Charles, Ben Kiwanuka and other prominent personalities, who have had roads named after them in Uganda.

State minister for tourism, Serapio Rukundo, launched the 3km Beatrice Anywar Road in Kakungulu Akright Estates, off Entebbe Road, earlier this week. Meanwhile, there seems to be no love lost between the fiery activist and Police chief Kale Kayihura, despite her constant run-ins with the Police.

Kayihura was quite respectful of Anywar at a recent regional Police chiefs’ meeting in Entebbe, prompting the stunned Anywar to comment: “I have never felt so safe in my life!” Hmm.
