With the increasing use of glass in building, the glass film concept has been introduced. There is no doubt the long time negative effect of the sun-rays in the interior of glass buildings and danger of breakages will be a thing of the past.

Glass film is protective polyester material, which is attached to glass windows and doors to give a room more privacy and also protecting the glass material against breakages.

There are two main types of films – those for security purposes and the sun-ray repellents. They come in different colours and thickness to perform different functions for both residential and commercial buildings.

John Agard, the managing director of Agard Glass Protection, says: “The common glasses used today allow sun heat to freely penetrate through the unprotected windows, leading to high temperatures in the room and a continuous battle with the airconditioning thermostats and fans. However, with solar-guard window films installed, you would be keeping up to 80% of solar heat out of your building, resulting in a cooler environment inside the room.”

“This means less strain on your AC unit, which also lowers your utility bills. And for colder geographic areas, solar-guards reduce the interior heat loss through glass. In any location, it can help lower your operating expenses, which increases property value,” Agard explains.

“The sun’s ultra-violet radiation, heat and light are major contributors to the fading and deterioration of fabrics, carpets and other interior furnishings. The films protect the interior of your building from premature damage.”

He says besides their proactive element, the films also give a perfect aesthetic complement to a building. With a wide variety of colours to choose from, the films are the perfect solution for any business, from a store-front to a corporate skyscraper.

Their reflective versions provide an added degree of privacy by preventing outsiders from viewing the interior. It is perfect in giving older buildings a fresh contemporary look and an eye-catching finish to new ones.

“No matter what type of building your are in, your glass and windows pose the biggest threat to your safety. Anything from a stray golf ball to a violent storm can send dangerous shards of glass flying, subjecting people and property to damage or injury. That is why many home and business owners are increasingly relying on the protection provided by the durable safety armorcoat window films,” says Agard.

Wendy Doery, from the same company, says: “It is a strong, resilient, thick and optically-clear barrier film that bonds to the inside of windows, reinforcing glass and holding it safely in place upon impact. That is why you can count on armorcoat for benefits such as reinforcing glass, keeping broken glass in place, reducing chances of injury and property damage while blocking nearly 100% of the damaging ultra-violent light.”

The film material has met impact requirements from some of the most stringent tests in the industry.

Armorcoat is made from tough high tensile polyester and ultra-strong mounting adhesives, available in a varied thickness. The thicker the film, the greater the protection it offers.

“Thunderstorms can have a devastating effect on windows and glass, but armorcoat safety window films will keep you and your property protected.”

Regardless of where you are, armorcoat would always act as your constant, invisible security guard, offering you complete protection from glass breakage incidents.
