TWO senior accountants of Greenhill Academy were yesterday charged with embezzling sh167m from the school. Mark Francis Sanya and Ernest Sempebwa were also charged with forgery. <br>

TWO senior accountants of Greenhill Academy were yesterday charged with embezzling sh167m from the school. Mark Francis Sanya and Ernest Sempebwa were also charged with forgery.

In addition, Sanya was separately charged with uttering a false document.
But the two denied the charges at the before Buganda Road Chief Magistrates’ Court. They allegedly forged several cheques, which they used for embezzling the funds.

Court heard that on various dates between February and June Sanya and Sempebwa allegedly forged Bank of Africa cheques, claiming they had been signed by the school directors.

On uttering false documents, state attorney Kate Basuuta said Sempebwa presented fake cheques to Bank of Africa, claiming they had been signed by James Serufusa and Kenneth MDoe, the directors.

They were remanded to Luzira Prison until August 25, pending further investigation.
