Defilement cases drop
GULU - Defilement cases in the north have dropped from 203 in June to 142 last month, the Police have said. The regional crime chief, Vincent Ouma, attributed the decline to their ongoing community policing and sensitisation drive, where the public is involved in crime prevention. He, however, noted that out of 1,713 cases reported to Police stations in Acholi and Lango sub-regions in July, at 203 cases, defilement still topped the crime statistics.

11 escape from Police cell

GULU - The Police are hunting for 11 suspects who escaped from their cells. A source at the central Police station said the men escaped through the window at night when the constables on duty were asleep. The regional Police chief Katureebe Arinaitwe, said they were investigating the constables for collusion. This is the second time suspects escape from the cells.
