THE FUFA soccer awards have received a massive cash injection of sh360m from Nile Breweries. Nile’s national brands manager Daniel Ogong and Anfield Communications CEO Aldrine Nsubuga announced the sponsorship deal at the Nile Breweries depot in Luzira yesterday.

Anfield was tasked by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations to organise the soccer governing body’s first ever awards night. The event, scheduled for September 20, will be held at a venue yet to be decided by the parties involved.

“True reward at the end of the day is the essence of Nile Special hence our decision to recognise and reward the outstanding footballers of last season with this sponsorship”, Ogong said.
The awards night is meant to recognise the outstanding individuals on Uganda’s football scene.

Members of the public will vote for the goal of the season, most exciting player, best football reporter, best football writer and best photo journalist among others.

Nsubuga said the major awards are the footballer of the year (men and women), most valuable player, best professional, best coach and team of the year.

These categories will be voted for by a panel of experts which will consist of 18 coaches of clubs that featured in the Super League last season together with their captains. The event will be called the Nile Special FUFA Awards.
