FORMER Commonwealth featherweight champion Jackson “Action” Asiku’s desire of becoming a world champion might become a reality without throwing a punch.

The World Boxing Association will sit in October to pass a verdict on whether Chris John of Indonesia should be stripped of the WBA featherweight title he is currently holding.

Asiku was supposed to fight John on July 26 in Jakarta, but the fight was called off after both fighters failed show up for the weigh-in ahead of the clash. But reports show the two fighters had agreed to fight in November.

According to Asiku’s camp, John was supposed to be stripped of the title, a boxing source said.
