REMEMBER Survivor, a reality show in which contestants are isolated in the wilderness to compete for cash and other prizes? Contestants are progressively eliminated until there is only one person who is crowned “Sole Survivorâ€. Well, Hanifah Hernandez and Xena Bantarizah, Ugandans in the diaspora have come up with Muvabulaya, a similar reality show.
The show kicked off on Sunday with 10 housemates. These will live in the Muvabulaya castle for 35 days and have their lives filmed 24/7.
The housemates are: Doreen Kobusingye, Godfrey Takuba, Eric Magino, Jane Namugera, Mildred Namukwaya, Pauline Kyosimiire, Rashid Senyonga, Raymond Kiwanuka, Richard Kato, and Shakeem Lubega.
What’s Muvabulaya?
Muvabulaya is about 10 Ugandans from different parts of the world, aged between18 and 45. They will be divided in two teams, in which they will do various tasks.
After each task, the defeated team will nominate two members to be evicted by the public. The last person will be crowned the Muvabulaya.
According to Hernandez, the show is a cultural show whose entertainment value will be derived from the cultural shock Ugandans born in the diaspora suffer when trying to live the Ugandan way.
Winners will be chosen depending on how well they execute tasks like hunting. Prizes include holidays and cash prizes. This show will be telecast on WBS TV.
