In May this year, he represented over 100 motorists in a lawsuit against Uganda Revenue Authority. The motorists wanted the tax body to refund their pre-paid road licence fees after government announced it had scrapped the fees in its 2007/2008 budget.

Fred Muwema, a prominent city lawyer, won the case. Rumours started flying that he (Muwema) had been paid a hefty sum in legal fees. This triggered off a rush by car dealers in town who jostled to sell the lawyer posh cars.

Snoops say the lawyer’s phone has been ringing off the hook since. One dealer insisted so much on selling him a classy Mercedes Benz that he offered to give it to him on credit if Muwema had not yet received the payment. He reportedly turned the offer down, assuring them that he already owned a Mercedes Benz. Hmm. The price of success!
