What do KCC and Kira say about this road?

EDITOR—Kira town council in Wakiso district has made a great decision to tarmac the road from the Kampala-Jinja highway all the way to the junction where Kamuli-Lubawo Road joins the Ntinda-Naalya Road.

The road has been widened and all the structures in the road reserve have been pulled down. By the end of October, it is hoped the road will be tarmacked. However, there is a problem. There is a stretch of about one kilometre which has not been worked on.

This stretch also happens to be the worst! The reason for this is not clear. Some residents whose perimeter walls are definitely in the road reserve are said to have resisted the demolition of these walls and also argue that their area is in Kampala City Council and not Wakiso! What does KCC say about this?

Can individuals block a Government plan to upgrade a public utility? It goes without saying that once the road is tarmacked, the economic value of the area will automatically go up. How can any sane person ignore this fact? Has KCC been compromised by these individuals or are there technicalities we do not understand?

The road was surveyed all the way to the Ntinda-Naalya junction and only the KKC stretch has not been worked on. It would be illogical to leave this stretch undone, for whatever reason. Can someone at KCC or Kira please explain what is happening?
