THE new Super Division soccer League clubs have appealed for support in a bid to have what they describe as a realistic chance of surviving in Uganda’s top competition.

“That’s the only way this trend of newcomers being relegated after only a season can be checked,” Bugerere FC official Badru Ssentongo said.

Ssentongo, also a delegate for Kayunga, argued that there was need for financial and technical assistance for these teams.

“We are not only short on the necessary resources, but we are also not given enough time to prepare for the Super League.”

Ssentongo cited league sponsors GTV as a possible source of such assistance.

Bugerere, Kakira, Mbarara Utd, Sharing and Youfra are the new sides in the 2008-9 season.

Boroboro and Nalubaale put up a rare survival act in the 2007-8 season in a competition where at times all the promoted sides have failed to beat the drop.

FUFA boss Lawrence Mulindwa said the clubs had a point but requested them to take the initiative of getting sponsors.

At the same time, FUFA has admitted seven new associations including Kumi and Kyenjojo.
