Gulu-A total of 88 girls were defiled and five people murdered in the district between June and July, according to the police records. The officer in charge of the criminal investigation department, Richard Oceng, said on Friday that two women were raped in June. “There were 20 arson cases in June and seven cases in July,” Oceng said. He added that 40 robberies, 108 assaults and 181 thefts were reported in the two months. Cases dropped from 435 in June to 390 in July.

RDC warns of famine
Amuru-The resident district commissioner, Edwin Komakech, has advised farmers not to sell all their food in order to avert the looming famine in the area. Komakech, who was on Thursday addressing residents of Koch-Goma sub-county in Nwoya county, advised the farmers to take advantage of the prevailing peace to leave the internally displaced people’s camps and return to their villages where there is land for cultivation.
