CENTRAL claimed the City Tyres U-14 Champions League for a record sixth time after a comfortable 2-1 win over Arua at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara on Sunday.

CENTRAL claimed the City Tyres U-14 Champions League for a record sixth time after a comfortable 2-1 win over Arua at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara on Sunday.

Zake Luboyera smashed a brace for Central early in the entertaining and fast-paced final inside twenty minutes. Samuel Efitre, struck a consolation for Arua before the stroke of half time.

In the playoff game East Buganda beat Western 1-0. This year’s edition was the eighth and attracted 22 teams though it was played under heavy rains. The winners were handed gold medals, scholastic materials and a new set of kits from City Tyres.

The runners-up also received silver medals, scholastic materials and a new football kit. Emrick Kawaman of Mbarara, who was voted the most spectacular player, won himself a year’s school bursary from the sponsors City Tyres.
