EDITOR—A Ugandan called Joseph Nsubuga is reported to have been fatally shot by the Indonesian police, in Jakarta.
He is alleged to have been caught with 40gm of heroine.
The circumstances of the shooting as reported in one of the local television stations, on September 14, were that Nsubuga had been on the police’s wanted listed for some time, and on finding him, they tried to apprehend him but he tried to flee, which prompted the police to incapacitate him (read shooting him to death!).
This is a sad reminder of the fate that often awaits people who are duped into going abroad without enough guarantee of employment.
Let us hope that there will never be another Ugandan or African, who will meet Nsubuga’s fate.
