Internal affairs minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda has urged Indians to invest more in Uganda, saying the Government would protect their investments.

Rugunda was speaking during the Indian Day celebrations at Didi’s World Amusement Centre in Kampala recently.

Rugunda said many investors in Uganda were Indians, adding that they had played a big role in the economic development of the country.

The Indian High commissioner, Niraj Srivastava, advised people to work towards developing the country “The India Day reflects cultural heritage and unity of different communities. It also depicts India-Uganda relations, which are more than a century old,” he said.

Srivastava commended the Government for ushering in peace and security.

Aditya Narain, an Indian music icon, performed at the celebrations where about sh15m was raised.

The money will go to charity.
