THE High Court sitting in Rukungiri has sentenced a primary school teacher to 12 years in prison for defiling a seven-year-old girl.

Prosecution told court, presided over by Justice Augustus Kania, that Fuderi Ntegyereize had sexual intercourse with a Primary Two pupil on October 24, 2005. Ntegyereize was a teacher at Kevena Primary School in Nyakishenyi sub-county.

“I have proved that the victim was under age, the doctor’s report indicates that she was penetrated and it was during the day for the victim to know who defiled her,” Kania said while passing the judgment.

In another case, a 61-year-old man, Jackson Rubanza of Nyamirama, was sentenced to 10 years for defiling his 10-year-old niece.
