Sebaggala’s advice
- Kampala mayor hajji Nasser Ntege Sebaggala loves culture and can do anything to restore African culture which he thinks has deteriorated. During a dinner organised by the Turkish Light Academy at Sheraton Kampala Hotel recently, he amused guests when he openly started luring the Turkish Community to stop struggling to go to Europe but instead come to Africa to re-instate the African culture. “Africa is an open continent. Instead of struggling to enter Europe which has no culture, come to Africa which doesn’t require you to look for an application. Turkish leaders should come to Africa because it is paradise,” he said amidst applause from the guests.

Poor Kivejinja
- There is nothing more embarrassing than a dignitary arriving late for a function. The third Deputy prime Minister alhajji Ali Kirunda Kivejinja suffered the pain when he arrived late for Eid el -Fitri prayers at the Gadaffi national Mosque at Old Kampala. Being a government representative, he thought the faithfuls would wait for him. Unfortunately, that was not so. He arrived at the mosque at 9:45am when the prayers which had started at 9:00am had ended. “At last, alhaji Ali has joined us when we are almost leaving,” the master of ceremonies Sheikh Anas Ssesimba, announced. To avoid further embarrassement, Kivejinja fled to the Mufti’s residence which is adjacent to the mosque.

Smart Luboobi
- Makerere University vice- chancellor Prof. Livingstone Luboobi knows how to address issues concerning the university. Appearing before the parliamentary committee on social services, to respond to a petition by the Makerere University Concerned Students Association over exorbitant fees at Makerere, he blatantly denied the existence of the association. After the long list of accusations read to him, his response was brief. “I sign on all certificates of students’ organisations. I do not remember ever signing one for these people.” All the MPs were silent.

Kiiza’s constituents
- Kasese woman MP Winfred Kiiza is a bitter woman. Recently she got an accident while coming from a church fundraising in the constituency. But this did not stop the voters from flocking her home demanding some assistance! Asked why she had resumed work when she had not healed, she replied: “I am tired of staying in the constituency because there are too many problems. The constituents are heartless. How do you ask for help from a sick person?”
