HENRY Malinga pulled down Allan Tawda’s last ditch shot in midair to grant the Mogas Falcons a 48-46 victory and deny what Sadolin Power felt should have tied their MTN-FUBA league encounter on Independence night.

According to Power players the ball was above the rim when Malinga pulled it down, an act that should legally have transferred two points to their account, but both match umpires protested being un-sighted on the occasion.

Power protested the result, captain’s signature on match form and all.
But Malinga, who spent the better part of the match rocking Power’s defence on the way to a game-high 16 points, will rest assured that his team’s latest points are safe.

And safe is what the champions’ playoffs qualification quest increasingly appears to be. Victory meant the Falcons put their post season on the right course, not very dissimilar from that of Power, who used the match to celebrate what would have been the 29th birthday of Wilbrod Oketcho - their teammate who passed away in April.

Also, the KCC Lions recorded a 48-46 surprise victory over the Miracle Eagles, who will join them in the second division next season if they continue to lose.

Today at Wandegeya, KIU take on the UCU Canons while the Warriors face the Gulu Hawks in the men’s top division.
