MALABA-A bodaboda rider died on the spot on Sunday when a car knocked him down in Malaba, Uganda. Documents at the accident scene showed the rider was a Kenyan from Amagoro near Malaba border. The New Vision vendor, Charles Okumu, who was among the first people to arrive at the scene, said the man was knocked from behind by the car with Ugandan registration numbers. Okumu said the man had just dropped a client at Orioi on his motorbike, KVV 142J. Police officer Edward Kyaligonza said they had withheld the identity of the deceased until the next of kin are informed.

RDC orders robbery probe
KAPCHORWA-The resident district commissioner, Jane Frances Kuka, on Thursday ordered the Gombolola internal security officers to investigate a new wave of highway robberies.
Kuka also directed the district internal security officer, Alex Nadejje, to work with all security agencies to find a solution to the problem. She said gunmen had particularly targetted taxis operating on the Sironko-Kapchorwa road, robbing passengers of property and cash. Kuka cited the most recent incident involving a taxi going to Kampala that was waylaid at Tewei hill, 12 miles from Kapchorwa town. She said passengers were undressed before being robbed of their property. Kuka was speaking during independence Day celebrations in Kapchorwa town. Uganda celebrated its 46th independence anniversary on Thursday.
