Students held over arson<br>BUSHENYI<br>Four students of St. Kaggwa High School were last week arrested for allegedly attempting to burn a school building on October 4. District Police chief Jimmy Oyuku said the students poured paraffin on the table in the art room before setting it ablaze.

Four students of St. Kaggwa High School were last week arrested for allegedly attempting to burn a school building on October 4. District Police chief Jimmy Oyuku said the students poured paraffin on the table in the art room before setting it ablaze. The paraffin, however, did not ignite, Oyuku said. The students were remanded to Rukukuru Remand Home in Nyabubare sub-county. They will reappear in court on October 24. The school recently expelled six students for smoking marijuana.

Man jailed for manslaughter
KABAROLE
A man in Fort Portal has been sentenced to eight years in jail for manslaughter. The High Court heard on Tuesday that Charles Bikorimaana, a resident of Ntorwa in Kamwenge district assaulted Gade Ndyamuhaki in 2005. They were taking enguli, a local gin. Ndyamuhaki was taken to the hospital the next day, where she died.

Bukinda parish marks 50 years
KABALE
At least sh33m in cash and pledges was on Sunday raised during the Golden Jubilee celebrations of St. Mary's Parish Bukinda in Kabale diocese. The fundraising was aimed at getting money for the construction of the parish health centre. Tourism state minister Serapio Rukundo urged clerics in the diocese to mobilise followers to set up income generating projects. Rukundo commended the bishop for initiating projects that had enabled self sustainability. He contributed sh2m towards the projects.

Two killed after bar quarrel
KABALE
A bar quarrel ended up in the death of two people in Butobore village, Rubanda county. Kabale crime chief Richard Ssuna said Felix Katongole’s body was found in the morning after the Monday night incident. Katongole had quarrelled with George Turyatemba. On suspecting Turyatemba of the murder, said Ssuna, Katongole’s family attacked and killed him (Turyatemba), causing unrest in the area. Ssuna said the Police had to deploy to quell the situation.
