HEALTH workers at Walukuba health centre IV are negligent, the Walukuba-Masese Division chairman has said.

Musisi Kibugujjo said the high level of negligence had resulted into the death of children, while a number of pregnant mothers delivered babies by the roadsides because they were not attended to.

“The health workers have turned into kazimingi (too busy) and are instead engaged in their personal businesses.
We shall not entertain lazy health providers who are not fulfilling their obligations and instead turn around and betray innocent people,” he said.
Kibugujjo was addressing a council meeting at the division hall on Thursday.

He said this year over five pregnant mothers delivered babies by the roadside on their way to other clinics, after failing to get nurses at Walukuba to attend to them.

He said in order to effect proper health service delivery, the division health management committee had been sacked. He said the council would elect a new committee next month.

Kibugujjo urged the district service commission to consider their request and post more medical workers to the centre. He said the health facility was overwhelmed by the numbers of patients.

He urged the community to ensure clean environment to avoid diseases.

The deputy resident district commissioner, Apollo Bwebale, hailed Kibugujjo, a Democratic Party supporter, for not sabotaging government programmes like the national Agricultural Advisory Services, Universal Primary and Secondary Education, saying they will develop the area.

He warned the division engineer against shoddy works and directed the town clerk to intensify on-spot supervision to ensure quality service delivery.
“The town clerk is obliged to supervise all division works,” he said.
