WAKISO - A 20-year-old student was yesterday charged with aggravated defilement and remanded in Luzira Prison. Mark Kibirige, a resident of Nansana West, was also charged with rape. Prosecutor Amos Mpaka said Kibirige raped a woman on September 9. Prosecution further said that earlier, Kibirige had defiled a girl, who was below 18 years.

70 escape death

LUWEERO A total of 70 people, 68 of them Saracen guards, survived on Tuesday when a bus they were travelling in overturned at Kigoogwa-Matugga, 12km on the Kampala-Gulu highway. Dickson Ayo, the Police emergency response team boss, attributed the accident to the narrow road. “The driver was trying to dodge a truck from Kampala,” he said.

Child body recovered
MITYANA - The body of one of the children who went missing in Mityana last week has been recovered. Two-year-old Sarah Nansubaga’s body was found in a forest at Butega in Busimbi sub-county. David Agi, the deputy officer in charge of criminal investigations at Mityana Police Station, said: “It had wounds on the neck, head and hands. I suspect she was sacrificed.”
