This year’s Pearl of Africa Music (PAM) awards will be held at the Shimon Grounds, come November 1. The expansive area was dedicated for construction of a hotel by a Saudi Arabian tycoon.

Although work on the hotel is yet to start, the grounds can host events. PAM chairman Isaac Mulindwa announced during the sponsors’ bash at Kampala Casino last Wednesday that the grounds will be used whenever available.

He, however, did not rule out returning to Speke Resort Munyonyo where the inaugural event and a couple of others were held.

The glamorous event was also held at Lugogo Cricket Oval, but Mulindwa said it was too expensive.

“The Shimon Grounds are much bigger with parking for all the VIPs’ cars,” Mulindwa said.

PAM partners Bell Lager and Zain applauded their relationship saying they have come a long way in developing local music talent. Zain’s external affairs manager, Fred Masadde and Bell Lager’s marketing manager, Fred Otieno hailed PAM for its progress and vowed to continue supporting it.
