UGANDA Golf Club (UGC) women’s section will play host to the Breast Cancer Awareness Golf Tournament this Saturday.

UGC lady captain Fancy Ogweng said that the 18-hole tournament will mark the end of a month-long breast cancer early detection awareness campaign.

Ogweng said that this year’s edition of the tournament will concentrate more on creating awareness.

The tournament is organised by UGC women’s section in conjunction with National Breast Cancer Care Fund and other NGOs.

“Cancer can affect any of us. We decided to come together and try to conquer it through the early detection campaign. The whole of October everybody has been playing in the fight against cancer,” Ogweng said.

The event will feature over 120 golfers on the par-72 Kitante course donned in pink T-shirts and caps.

Cancer survivors and leading personalities in the fight against the disease will grace the prize-giving ceremony at Uganda Golf Club.

URA, Engen, Eskom, Kobil, MTN and Stanbic Bank have co-sponsored the tournament.
