THE New Vision newspaper will effective today be sold at sh1,200, up from sh1,000, reports Herbert Ssempogo.
Cover prices of Saturday Vision and Sunday Vision have also increased to sh1,500 from sh1,200 per copy.

Readers in Rwanda will buy a copy of any of the three newspapers at 650 Rwandan Francs, those in Kenya will pay sh80, Tanzania sh1,200 and sh2,000 for readers in Juba, South Sudan.

The increment, according to Tony Glencross, The New Vision sales and marketing manager, has been prompted by a rise in operation costs.

“The price of paper has increased by 25%. The cost of ink and other materials has also gone up, as well as the cost of delivering newspapers,” he said yesterday.

“We have been absorbing the increases and, therefore, keeping the cover prices constant since February this year.”

Glencross said readers would still get value for their money, citing the recently-enhanced sections like Health, Woman, Education and Career and Weekend as some of the innovations aimed at ensuring that readers get their money’s worth.
