KCC FC's march to the first league title in 10 years last season owed much to the club's spirited attitude and high-work rate within a 4-4-2 formation.

Several pundits even suggested that the league champions would prove invincible this season if the club's central strikers Brian Umony and Robert Sentongo replicated the attacking chemistry that helped them to a combined 32 goals last season.

However, the pair has led the lines with restricted success so far, prompting club coach George Nsimbe to readjust from the conventional 4-4-2 to a 4-3-3, with Anthony Bongole being shipped into a three-man attack.

The changes, effected after three consecutive defeats to Simba, Bunamwaya and Kinyara, have helped KCC demonstrate powers of recovery in the last fortnight with wins over Sharing (5-0) and Kakira (2-1). “The 4-4-2 worked for us last season because the work rate was high then. The new strategy allows room to score,” Nsimbe said.

The club's new-found momentum must continue against league debutantes Bugerere today, if they are to keep table leaders Simba in sight.

Elsewhere, Express FC who visit bottom-placed Kakira, must discover some level of consistency if they are to battle at the right end of the table.
The Red Eagles suffered their fourth defeat of the season last Friday after collapsing to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Simba.

+Soccer governing body FUFA is divided on whether or not its current competitions committee secretary Moses Magogo should be part of the Super League committee.

Sports state minister Charles Bakkabulindi is due to meet the FUFA and clubs body SDCA nominees today.
Last week, the minister presided over a reconciliation meeting that agreed to a proposal to form a six- man committee to manage the Super League independent of the FUFA competitions committee (FCC).

All indications are that FUFA still want Magogo to run the league, but a source said a group of officials were arguing for a change. “If you want to do football good service, you don’t put Magogo on the league committee. It lowers him and will bring conflict of interest with FCC,” the source said.

The source went on to indicate that Livingstone Lajan and Kavuma Kabenge would be picked from the list of four the SDCA handed FUFA.

SDCA over the weekend proposed Richard Omongole, Lajan, Fred Muwema and Kabenge to form the committee that will be joined by a media rights owner GTV official to run the league.

“It doesn’t matter who FUFA chooses because all of us that the SDCA proposed are competent enough to manage the league. The problem has been structural,” Kabenge said when asked about SDCA’s stand yesterday.

FUFA were meeting late last night, but the source indidated that Magogo, league fixtures secretary Rajab Kisekka and Bunamwaya SC chairman Tadeous Kitandwe are the names being fronted to join the SDCA team.

+FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa has sacked the Zone 7 chairman Peter Ssenkungu.
After a meeting with the different clubs from Zone 7 at FUFA House yesterday, Mulindwa blamed Senkungu for refusing to endorse the registration forms of over eight clubs in the Masaka first division without clear reasons.

The Masaka Division one league now kicks off Thursday under the supervision of the FUFA Competitions Committee. Young Lads, Masaka MC, Morning Bell, Lukaya, Butego, Kanoni, Ssaza, Kako, Nyendo, Bwala and Masaka LC attended the meeting.
