THE Ministry of Education has instructed schools and institutions to sing all the three stanzas of the national anthem to make students learn it.

The commissioner in charge of business, vocational and technical education, Eng. Henry Okinyal, said many students and pupils could not sing the national anthem.

Okinyal was speaking at Ssese Farm School in Kalangala on Saturday during the opening of a computer laboratory and dining hall.

The laboratory was donated by Bujumba MP Fred Badda and the sh104m dining hall was constructed by the ministry of education.

“The Ministry of Education recognises that the national anthem is not accorded the attention it deserves. Schools and institutions are therefore obliged to teach their students and pupils to sing all the three stanzas before singing their school anthems,” Okinyal said.

He, however, advised the schools to teach the students when to sing the whole of the anthem and when to sing one or two stanzas.

“You should also teach the students the importance of the national flag,” Okinyal said, adding that it is only through learning the national anthem and flag that students would become patriotic.

He also decried the increasing cases of forgery of O’level certificates.
