HE entered the Big Brother house on August 24. He got romantically involved with Tanzanian housemate Latoya. He won head of house tasks twice in a row.

DStv audiences across Africa watched him try his luck for the sh170m jackpot. Unfortunately, he was evicted last Sunday, November 23, which also happens to be his birthday.

Morris Mugisha, having spent exactly 70 days on the M-Net reality show, became the seventh evictee, after Latoya, Lucille, Uti, Sheila, Mimi and Takondwa.

The Ugandan representative is expected to land at Entebbe Airport tonight at 7:00pm, aboard South African Airways. He will attend a press conference after his arrival.

By press time, the venue time and details had not yet been finalised. With seven housemates now gone, five still have a chance to win the jackpot. They are: Angola’s Ricco, South Africa’s Thami, Malawi’s Hazel, Botswana’s Tawana and Zimbabwe’s Munya.

After two more are evicted in the next two weeks, viewers will start voting for who of the three finalists, walks away with the jackpot.

Upon eviction, Morris, who appeared cheerful and unbothered by the eviction, said Ricco might win the money, just like most of the other evictees said.

You would think Morris knew he was leaving. In fact, he was dressed to go. Clad in black, he looked the typical model that he is back home.

“It feels great to be out. The real life is out here, not in there,” Morris told show host Kabelo, moments after his eviction.

Even when he was shown clips of housemates who had nominated him, he did not have any bad feelings about it. He said someone had to be nominated for eviction, and that this time it was him.

“In fact, I am surprised that I made it this far. When you are in that house, you can’t know what to expect. Thank you Africa for keeping me this long.”

Eight out of 13 block votes did Morris in. It hurt so bad to realise we needed just two more countries to save our boy.

If local BBA partners: Club, Pepsi, SMS media and Multichoice had heeded my advice in Thursday’s paper — airlifting at least two people to Tanzania and Zimbabwe to vote from there — Morris would still have a chance at hitting the jackpot.

Meanwhile, back in the house, Tawana, who also nominated him, shed crocodile tears, probably thinking we would be fooled. Let us wait to take it out on her when she gets on the nominees’ list.

Munya also cried, but he seemed more genuine, since he had said earlier that he respected the Ugandan.

The rest did not seem bothered, after all are now closer to winning.
