THE new Anglican bishop of Mityana Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Stephen Kazimba, has called upon the group of Christians that had broken away to return to the diocese.

Kazimba was on Sunday meeting the group leaders at his residence at Namukozi near the Cathedral.

“I have received you unexpectedly. It has been a surprise but I am happy. You call yourselves a mobile church but the church is called to be united, to be one,” he said.

He added: “We may have divisions and misunderstandings, but you should come back to Busimbi and put things right, walk together and reconcile with each other.

“We are meant to be together as the body of Jesus Christ. We should forget the past and forgive each other.”

Godfrey Kibirige led the group of over 20 people. They took with them gifts to the bishop and his family, to welcome them in the diocese.

“These are the leaders of the mobile church from All Saints Busimbi parish. We are sorry for not informing you in time about our visit. We had reasons why we could not tell you but we are also happy to meet you,” Kibirige said.

“We have much hope in you and this is why we have come to let you know about our church, which broke away from this diocese,” he added.

The group comprises mainly old women and men who claim to be part of the founders of All Saints Church.

“I have been here for over 43 years. But right now, I am in a spiritual war,” Faith Katirimo, a member, said.

The over 100 Christians broke away from at the begging of this year, following misunderstandings with Bishop Dunstan Bukenya, Kazimba’s predecessor.

Since then, they have been praying in their homes, with the Rev. Isaac Kyagulanyi as their priest. This is why they call themselves a mobile church.
