SPORTS state minister Charles Bakkabulindi plans to set up a fresh boxing normalisation committee to reconcile the warring parties in Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF).

This comes after studying the National Council of Sports (NCS) report that probed a petition by 10 boxing clubs that accused the federation president Roger Ddungu of running down amateur boxing.

“I have received the NCS report and I have studied it. I cannot disclose the contents but I compared the information therein with my own findings and I have concluded to advise that the whole process to be revisited, and the exercise repeated,” Bakkabulindi said on Friday.

The clubs petitioned NCS accusing Ddungu of tampering with the federation constitution and hiking the annual subscription fees to sh0.5m as well as giving himself a four year term of office instead of two.

NCS chairman Anthony Katamba in August set up a five man committee to handle the petition and verify allegations against Ddungu.

The committee chaired by William Odwang comprised Julius Zziwa, NCS general secretary Jasper Aligawesa, Kigongo Bukenya and Penninah Kabenge.

They presented their report to the minister Wednesday.

The minister in his meetings with both UABF and the feuding clubs was unhappy with the fact that top UABF officials also were part of the normalisation committee which prescribed the sh0.5m affiliation fees and gave the president a four year term.
