Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and the Uganda Investment Authority have launched a partnership to increase skilled labour and improve relations between the school and employers. This was during the 13th International Management Conference at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel in Entebbe last Wednesday. The conference was attended by participants from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Swaziland, South Africa, Nigeria and Norway. MUBS principal Prof. Waswa Balunywa said not much had been done to unite academic institutions and the business community in Uganda.

N. Korea frees trade market
KAMPALA
The North Korean government has opened its market to Ugandan agro and industrial products. According to an agreement signed by the two countries last Wednesday, Ugandan products will be exempted from tariff and non-tariff barriers. The North Korean ambassador, Pak Hyon Jae, commended the initiative. According to Han Chol, the economic and trade adviser to the ambassador, the priority products include milk, milk powder, rice, maize and dried fruits. Trade state minister Nelson Gaggawala Wambuzi urged local producers to increase production.
