THE NRM party continues to count its losses following the death of MP Viccy Kyaka Kyokuhairwa.

With her passing, the party, according to deputy secretary general, Dorothy Hyuha, has lost four seats in the Parliament.

Delivering the party’s condolence message at the requiem mass for the late MP Kyaka at the Christ the King Church yesterday, Hyuha said it has been a trying moment for the party.

Two of the party MPs, Anifa Kawoya and Anthony Mukasa election to the Parliament was nullified by court. The third is the late state minister for agriculture, Dr. Kibirige Ssebunya.

“The party will greatly miss her contribution,” Hyuha said of Kyaka.

She described the late Kyaka as a mobiliser and the confirmation of the NRM party’s affirmative action. The party contributed sh1m towards the burial.

The late MP’s husband, Dr. Kyaka though still admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of Mulago Hospital, pleaded with the Government to give his deceased wife a decent burial.

His message was delivered yesterday at a requiem mass by a relative, Eng. Joseph Ngatuna,

“His condition is still worrying but he has sent me to tell the children and the mourners that he is with us spiritually. He wants a decent send off for his wife,” Ngatuma told the mourners who thronged the church.

The late MP, her sister-in-law, Sofia Namaganda and an unidentified person died on Friday in a motor accident along the Kampala-Masaka Highway.

Dr. Kyaka had just graduated from Nkozi University and the family was returning home, in Kampala.

Four of Kyaka’s five children read a poem that made mourners cry.

The eldest daughter, Baker Ayebazibwe, missed the funeral as she is writing her final A’ level exams.
