PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has described the late Isingiro district woman MP, Viccy Kyaka as a humble parliamentarian who was good at lobbying.

Museveni said Kyaka was a strong Movement supporter who fought for prosperity.

Addressing mourners at a requiem mass in Ngarama Catholic Church in Isingiro on Wednesday, Museveni said Kyaka was a modern leader who took advantage of the democracy prevailing and came up slowly as a lower cadre politician until she became MP.

Kyaka died in a motor accident on Friday, when a car she was travelling in collided with a minibus at Buwama near the Equator on the Kampala-Masaka highway. She was travelling to Kampala after attending her husband Dr. James Kyaka’s graduation at Uganda Martyrs’ University Nkozi in Masaka.

Dr. Kyaka’s sister Sophia Namaganda who was aboard the ill-fated car also died while Dr. Kyaka is still admitted at Mulago Hospital.

Museveni, accompanied by his wife Janet, recalled that Kyaka always asked him to help widows in her area when she went to Parliament.

The President pledged to educate Kyaka’s children until they complete studies.

The legislator left five children, three of whom are girls. The eldest daughter finished her A’ Level examinations on Tuesday, a day before the burial of her mother.

Leader of Opposition in Parliament Prof. Ogenga Latigo said Kyaka was an exceptional legislator with a good character while debating issues in Parliament.

Mpigi district Police commander Evans Nuwamanya told mourners that it took one and half hours to remove Kyaka’s body from the wreckage and to rescue Dr. Kyaka, he added, they had to cut the vehicle into pieces.

In a message delivered by The New Vision company secretary Gervase Ndyanabo, Dr. Kyaka said the love of his wife was expressed in the number of projects she initiated.

Animal industry state minister Maj. Bright Rwamirama advised Isingiro residents to elect a brave and hard working person.
