SEVEN members of the committee on physical infrastructure have dissented to the main report of the Land Bill 2007, citing irregularities.

The group led by Makindye East MP, Michael Mabikke, agreed to write a minority report which they will hand over to the Speaker soon.

Mabikke and his group, who addressed the press yesterday after the committee endorsed the main report, said they would write to the Speaker about their position.

The group is opposing sections 32 A and B. Section 32(A) states that a bonafide occupant shall not be evicted except with an eviction order by a court and only for non payment of the ground rent.

Others are Moses Kabusu, Peter Amol, Elijah Okupa, Patrick Oboi and Ekwau Ibi.
